Abstract

The automotive sector is experiencing a strong development that requires reducing the weight of vehicles to minimise energy consumption. Composite materials with better strength-to-weight ratios are one of the best options for planning, designing and manufacturing lightweight parts. This paper reviews the properties, analysis of advantages and disadvantages, and applications of different types of composite materials in the automotive area.
