DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL TWINS FOR CHEMICAL PLANTS: SOME CASE STUDIESAbstract
Digital Twins is a popular new technology in the Industry 4.0 sector. By creating a digital replica of a physical entity such as a device, a process, or a system, this technology allows for real-time simulation, monitoring, and prediction of the activities of systems and processes. Its applications are diverse, ranging from minimizing errors in manufacturing, optimizing the operations of machinery and equipment, to improving resource management and services for customers. The flexibility and potential of this technology have been attracting attention and investment from many companies and organizations worldwide. This article discusses the construction of Digital Twins in the chemical manufacturing sector through two case studies: (i) Evaluating the multi-component absorption of volatile organic emissions from the synthesis process of a pharmaceutical (salbutamol), and (ii) Observing and optimizing operations based on the data from a chemical plant.
