STUDY ON THE COOLING SYSTEM FOR INJECTION MOLDAbstract
This study investigates the application of a cooling layer system for thermal control in injection mold heating, focusing on thin-walled plastic products. A research model was developed and analyzed using both numerical simulations and experimental validation. The simulation, performed with ANSYS CFX, evaluated heat transfer and fluid flow inside the cooling layer, while infrared thermography was employed to capture temperature distribution on the mold surface during experiments. Key process parameters, including inlet water temperature, flow rate, and cooling layer thickness, were varied to assess their effects on thermal uniformity and heating efficiency. Results indicated that the cooling layer significantly improved temperature distribution across the mold cavity, reduced heating time, and minimized thermal gradients compared with conventional straight-drilled channels. The close agreement between simulation and experimental data (error <5%) confirmed the reliability of the model. These findings highlight the potential of cooling-layer-integrated molds for enhancing product quality and optimizing industrial injection molding processes
