OPTIMIZATION OF THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF Al2O3 – TiO2 CERAMIC COATINGS USING PLASMA SPRAYING TECHNOLOGY FOR APPLICATIONS IN MECHANICALLY WORN MACHINE COMPONENTSAbstract
This paper presents the scientific and practical research results on the characteristics of ceramic coatings worldwide and applies the Taguchi experimental design method to establish plasma spraying parameters for producing Al2O3-40TiO2 ceramic coatings in order to improve the service life of machine components through the coating’s friction coefficient. In this study, three technological parameters were investigated, including spraying current, powder feed rate, and spraying distance. The friction coefficient was measured on the coating surface, and the Taguchi experimental design method was employed to analyze and determine the optimal spraying parameters for obtaining a coating with the desired friction coefficient. The research results provide a basis for establishing plasma coating technological processes for restoring machine components subjected to mechanical wear in Vietnam, the components are still in use and under monitoring.
